BRAIN SCANS
Expensive brain scans, such as CAT scans, MRI scans, and MRA scans are seldom necessary or useful in the diagnosis of migraine and other headaches.
Patients are only referred for brain scans if the Neurological examination indicates that they are necessary.
Fortunately, in the vast majority of headache sufferers, the pain is not from the brain or any structure inside the skull, but rather from one or more structures outside the skull. All members of The Headache Clinic's professional staff have had extensive training in the highly specialized examination techniques developed at The Headache Clinic for detecting from which extracranial structures the pain originates.
